Hi Im having a survey on a Moody 54 next week. Barring any unforeseen major issues we will be likely buying. 2 questions: 1. Anything specific we should be mindfully looking for/weak or common issues.
2. Does anyone have a link to a owners manual for the 2003 54 in English. It would really help us get to know her systems more.

Mark, there is information in the technical library but it is not available to "registered guests", you need to become a temporary or full member.
Hopefully a Moody 54 owner will provide information on any particular issues to look at.

Thanks Ill upgrade for sure if we do close on it. The previous owner has not been very helpful unfortunately. Didn't disclose the dismasting until I had rigging inspection and identified it was relatively new. So if anyone knows any info on a 54 called Lumino that was flagged France (now US) and was in Caribbean the past several years, please share

hi Mark

Might pay to check the freezer and fridge are both working. The lines that connect from the compressors ( hidden on the shelves under the galley sink ) to the cooling units ( under the galley floor ) can corrode and lose gas. As the original 54s are all 20 years old it seems a few of them are having this issue including me.. If you are lucky some seem to have access to the compressors via a hatch behind the rear cabin toilet.
Other than that no nasty inherent surprises with our boat but remember it will be 20 years old and will need updating of battery chargers/inverters as they only seem to last 15-20 years according to our electrician.
