Hi I’m interested at looking at a Moody 34 for sale in Gibraltar with Boatshedgib. Link here. The owners are in the UK but I think VAT will still need to be paid. I’m hoping to get in touch with 34 owners who might be able to give advice. I am assuming it needs a new engine but this is only from the photographs. I am hoping to go and have a look in December. I have also been looking a this boat. On the face of it the £26,500 asking price looks cheap, however I am unable to find anyone who can transport her back to the UK by road. She has no recent survey and I doubt a paid skipper would want to sail her back with an engine in that poor condition. With the cost and hassle to replace the engine in her current location and the cost get her back to the UK the price doesn’t seem so attractive. I would want to get the boat for around £20k to make it worthwhile.
