Dear All
Has anyone experience in removing the engine from a 44 early 90's vintage?
If so which way did it pop out?
And how??
Many thanks Simon

Hi,

Engine removal via cockpit floor.
Steering pedalstall will probably need to be removed or moved aside as well.
Boom works well for attaching a chain hoist and swing engine out of the boat.

Good luck,
Ian

The one thing that will not happen is it will not pop out. The cockpit floor needs removing & I could not break the seal on mine. I had an old 4ton Porta Power hydraulic ram kit for straightening car bodies but I found the seals had gone. I bought a cheap 10t version from the popular auction site. This had the grunt to rip the silicone jacking it off the engine bed. The floor would be too clumsy to manoeuvre without removing the steering pedestal. Half of the cockpit floor is the overhang above the unit behind the companion way steps housing the fuel tank. The only way my engine would come out was to remove everything an the engine bay side of the front bulkhead including isolator switches & box then the engine/gearbox had to be lifted with it standing vertically on the gearbox to get it through the hole. I took the gearbox off the new engine then various ancillaries had to be removed from the engine again to get it through the hole.

David.

We had a similar experience as Dave. The seal on the cockpit floor was very good however not as good as Dave's.

Yes the engine compartment had be stripped including removing our generator.
