And the title says, we are serious buyers for this range.

44 is probably out of our price range sadly.

The Grenadier was a bit of an add on as I think the 119 might be too small and the 134 too expensive.

Hello from Galicia, I hope you’ll be able to help us. In brief we’re fitting a Yanmar 4jh57 to our Moody 422 and the yard want to put the water lock in the lazarette. Where is it on your M422 ? I’m told the planned position is incorrect.

Hi John,

The usual location for the water lock is in the engine space, close to the exhaust mixing elbow where the raw water is injected into the exhaust. The inlet of the water lock should be lower than the outlet of the mixing elbow to minimise the risk of any water getting back to the exhaust valves. i don't know about wrong, but I would ask the yard what the advantage is of positioning the water lock so far from the engine.

Peter.

As mentioned by others, the water lock and exhaust cooling all fit in the engine room just aft of the new engine on the port side. I wonder if your yard are so familiar with Beneteaus, Jeanneaus etc. and the tiny space they give for the engine that they are not aware that the Moody has a "ROOM". We're puzzled why they would consider the lazarette, especially the port side one with all the steering gear. Have fun (great engine).

Thank you so much for the reply and photos. It looks like you have a custom exhaust box. This seems like the only alternative to the usual plastic duck shaped one. I believe the volume of water in the exhaust hose dictates the size of box but not sure. Open to suggestions. Bob
